The remains of Late Bridget Ogheneovo Orukamayan, the mother of the first lady of Ethiope West local government council Mrs Eseoghene Golley have been laid to rest in her hometown Okurho Ogharefe in Ethiope West Local government area of Delta State.
Late Bridget Orukamayan was buried amidst tears from her children, grand children,siblings,in-laws,admirers and members of the Catholic family from Sapele and Okwetolor in Okpe local government.
The Officiating priest at the graveside Reverend Father John Iyekoya prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
As soon as she was lowered,her children,siblings and in-laws performed the dust to dust ritual.
Her remains was before interment laid in state at her Adeola road Sapele residence followed by a brief stop over at the Sapele office of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
Earlier at a requiem mass held in her honour at the Saint Patrick Catholic Church Sapele before she was conveyed in a motorcade to Ogharefe for interment, Reverend Father Michael Obudu described Late Bridget Orukamayan nee Omene as a woman that had sincere and uncommon love for God and humanity.
The cleric said he was convinced that God called the deceased home at her prime because she has done well and needed to come to the paradise for eternal glory.
He charged her children and the congregation to live for Christ to make heaven as no one knew when death could occur.
Reverend Father Obudu said the parish and the entire societies in the church that she belonged will miss her selflessness so much and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
The service featured special prayers for her peaceful repose and for unity to reign in her family.
At a reception after interment,the deceased children and family members danced round to welcome guests who came to bid their mother farewell to the land of all souls.
In an interview, some of her children, in-laws and family members including Honourable Solomon Golley, Chairman of Ethiope West and his wife Eseoghene said she was a role model and a true Christian in all standard.
They said her death was untimely but thanked God for giving them a rare mother and the best friend any one could think of.
The event had in attendance politicians from all parts of Delta and beyond,management and staff of Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba,academic giants,industrialists and clerics from the orthodox and unorthodox Churches.
A service of songs was also held in her honour at the same church where encomiums were rained on her for maximizing her time and resources for the propagation of the gospel of Christ and wellbeing of the downtrodden.
The officiating priest Reverend Father Tega Adakre and other speakers told her children not to mourn but uphold the good legacies she left behind as the only way to immortalize her.
The burial ceremonies was rounded off with a thanksgiving service at Saint Patrick Catholic Church Sapele where her children and family members joined by parishioners appreciated God for a woman that affected humanity positively.
Late Bridget Orukamayan who died on the 24th of March 2019 was aged 61.
She was until her death a community leader,a member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and a philanthropist.
She is survived by seven children,21 grand children and other relations amongst whom is Mrs Jennifer Ejime Udueme of Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba.
