Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has described the newly installed Ebenanawei of Tuomo Kingdom, Hon. Justice Francis Fedode Tabai as a high calibre personality that has a lot to offer the Kingdom, the Ijaw nation, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
Governor Okowa, stated this while presenting Staff of Office to Hon. Justice Francis Tabai, , Pere Esuku 1, the Ebenanawei of Tuomo Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area.
The governor who was represented by the Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, noted that, the institution of the Ebenanawei has great significance for the people of Tuomo Kingdom and as such the people should strive to promote the integrity of the stool by according the new monarch the respect, support and cooperation he truly deserves.
The governor who thanked the entire Tuomo kingdom for their support for the state government, appealed to the royal father to discharge all his responsibilities in transparent manner by being fair and just to the people.
Governor Okowa called on sons and daughters of Tuomo Kingdom to take advantage of the various programmes of government particularly the Delta State Micro-Credit Programme to improve on their agricultural production capacity which they are well known for.
Earlier, the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Godknows Angele, in a welcome address on behalf of the people of Tuomo Kingdom, commended Governor Okowa who has initiated the desired change in governance by recognizing the important role the traditional institution can play in peace building and development of their communities.
Hon. Angele noted that, the Niger Delta has in recent memory been a volatile region and the government is working in concert with leaders, particularly traditional institutions to maintain peace in the area.
While saying that, the unity of Tuomo Kingdom cannot be compromised and has pledged their total support to the state government, Hon. Angele assured that they will jealously guide and guard this democracy so that Delta State Government under the leadership of Governor Okowa can safely bring development to Tuomo Kingdom.
In his response, Pere Esuku the first expresed his appreciation to Governor Okowa and the state government for officially recognizing him as the Ebenanaowei of Tuomo Kingdom, he assured the people of an open door reign in frostering peace and harmony in the kingdom.
The presentation of Staff of office attracted dignitaries both from Delta and Bayelsa States including the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Alowei Broderick Bozimo, the Orodje Of Okpe, Orhue the 1st, the Pere of Akugbenemien Kalanama the 8th among others.
