Some group of militants have taken over Auntie Julie ConOil production platform offshore in Sangana community under Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
It was reported that militants took over the ConOil production platform in the wee hour of Wednesday January 9 coming with several speed boats in scores of militants members to demand for about 35 Milion Naira from the company operating in their community.
Investigation revealed that the militants are allegedly demanding to sign Memorandum of Understanding MoU with the management of ConOil which is among their top demands from the indigenous oil firm.
The militants have also disarmed security agents on duty at the ConOil offshore platform as part of effort to press on their demands.
Feelers from the area revealed that ConOil workers onboard are facing unassuming tension and health challenges haven’t been abandoned onboard due to irregular crew change of workers.
They are appealing to the management of CoinOil to look inwards towards some of its top management staff which they alleged might be involved in the militant attacks and demands of fund from the company offshore and find a way to stop future occurrence.
However there are tension among workers in the platform over another militant attack next week Monday as the militants have left the area with threat of coming back on Monday.
