The lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas FCA FCTI MBA, has disclosed that he would appeal the Tribunal’s judgement and will do everything within his God given grace to defend the mandate given to him and his All Progressive Congress (APC) by the good people of Delta South in the last general elections.
According to the renowned chattered Accountant “I am aware of the judgement delivered by the National Assembly Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta State.
“Though we are yet to receive the certified true copy of the judgement, preliminary brief suggest sufficient grounds for appeal which will give us victory.
“As I consult the leadership of our party and my legal team, be rest assured that, we will appeal this judgement and we will do everything within our God given grace to defend our mandate.
“However, I wish to urge my teaming supporters and APC faithfuls in Delta South Senatorial District to remain calm and show brotherly love to one another
“Be rest assured that, by God’s grace, the mandate you gave to me at the polls will be defended and I will remain your Senator now and for the next four years.”
It should also be noted that Chief Timinimi George and his All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA’s) petition against Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas was dismissed for being incompetent and that the court lacks jurisdiction to hear it as the grounds upon which it was brought relates to pre-election matters. The cost of N500,000 was awarded in the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District’s favour.
