Inspite of the recent successes recorded by the nation’s security agencies, the Hon. Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to ensure crime is reduced to barest minimum in Nigeria.
Aregbesola, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore, made this disclosure at the commissioning of the ultra modern office accommodation for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kebbi State Command.
Belgore commended the leadership of the NSCDC for being pragmatic and proactive in providing ‘adequate security tiols and befitting office accommodation’ for officers and men of the Corps to accmplish its mandate in protecting critical national infrastructure, fighting banditry, kidnapping and insurgency while providing necessary intelligence to sister agencies and other security bodies to aid fight against criminal elements.
“…the Corps has in the last couple of years demonstrated its readiness to positively impact on the nation’s security through its proactiveness especially prompt and regular sharing of actionable intelligence…”, Belgore emphasised.
He however urged the personnel of the NSCDC to be dutiful, adding that the facility provided should serve as morale booster to deliver on their mandate as a security agency.
On his part, the Governor of Kebbi State, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government,
Alh Babale Yauri admitted that the Corps had been able to complement the efforts of other security agencies in tackling crimes in the state. He promised that the state government would continue to provide support to the NSCDC.
Speaking earlier during his welcome address, the Commandant-General of NSCDC, Abubakar Audi, mni thanked what he described as unquantifiable policy supports from the Ministry of Interior, saying that such gestures had assited the Corps in its operations.
In a similar development, Belgore also commissioned the the newly built NSCDC Command in Sokoto State that witnessed similar accolades and commendation of the NSCDC and other stakeholders.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, represented by the State Commissioner for Career and Security Matters, Alh. Abubakar Maikudi said the Governor was desirous of providing supports to the NSCDC, adding that such supports had positive impact in recent time.
