The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the last Saturday governorship election in Delta State.
From the results announced on Sunday and Monday 10th and 11th of March, 2019, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Delta State Office in Asaba, Dr. Okowa defeated Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and other political parties in 23 out of the 25 Local Government Area Councils in Delta State with a total of 925,274 votes to 215,938 votes of the APC.
The governorship candidate of the APC, Chief Great Ogboru however defeated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ethiope East and Ughelli North LGAs.
According to the State Returning Officer for the Delta State gubernatorial election, Prof Seth Accra – Jaja of the Federal University Otuoke in Bayelsa State, the total Registered Voters in the State is – 2,831,205.
Prof. Jaja added that 1,188,784 voters were accredited for the election and the APC scored 215, 938, while the PDP got 925, 274 votes
Before declaring Dr Okowa as the winner, the Returning Officer disclosed that 24,147 votes were rejected out of the total Votes Cast of 1,178,335.
