As insurgency activities impact many lives and livelihoods, government and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) are adopting different approaches towards finding a lasting peace and an end to the conflict.
Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari was a guest and delivered a keynote address at the symposium organized by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) with the theme: Reconciliation, Resettlement and Reintegration.
Dr. Abari commended efforts of the HD while he assured that the Agency would continue to provide its support for the cause it is championing in bringing peace to the affected areas.
Humanitarian Dialogue is working to reconcile and reintegrate those involved in the conflict as well as those affected by the insurgency in the North-East. The symposium served as a platform to present its scorecard in the last years it has been working on reconciliation and reintegration.
The DG NOA, in the course of the symposium, moderated a Panel Discussion: ‘Reconciliation, Resettlement and Reinvigoration: Challenges and Recommendations’. He also moderated Questions and Answer session.
Other partners of the symposium include: International Crisis Group, Conciliation Resources and North-East Civil Society Forum.
The event was attended by diplomats from different missions in Nigeria as well as key players in government such as Operation Safe Corridor Coordinator, Major Gen. Bamidele Shafa, Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Zuwaira Gambo among others.
