The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Dr George Akume says he is eternally grateful and indebted to the University of Ibadan.
Speaking when he received in audience some members of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association Board of Trustees, University of Ibadan Trust Fund, College of Past Presidents and the Executive of the Association in his residence at Maitama, Abuja, Dr Akume harped on the benefits he gained having passed through the premier university.
According to him, the institution really prepared him for what he is today and commended the founders for the strong academic foundation they laid.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation who was the immediate past Minister of Special Duties, thanked the current leadership of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association for their thoughtfulness and solidarity on his appointment.
A member, UIAA Board of Trustees and former Senator of the Federal Republic, Distinguished Senator Jonathan Zwingina informed Dr Akume that they came to congratulate him on his appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Senator Zwingina noted that the visit was important as it was aimed at identifying with him as one of their own especially considering his immeasurable contributions to the Association in recent time.
The Worldwide President of UIAA, Professor Gabriel Nyityo pledged the loyalty and support of the Association to the new SGF.
Professor Nyityo reminded him of his fatherly roles and supports he had rendered to the Association before now, stressing that UIAA as a globalised organisation wants him to consider his alma mater while taking some important decisions.
Contributing, the Emeritus President, Dr Kemi Emina spoke about the strategic position of the new SGF in the current political dispensation in the country and encouraged him to remain steadfast as a great UITE.
Other speakers like the 1st Vice President Barrister Fidelis Mbadugha urged the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation to give priority attention to the University of Ibadan Alumni Association in his endeavours.
