The Chairman of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Michael Ikeogwu has congratulated Mr. Lawrence Okpewho for successfully retiring from the service of the Delta State Broadcasting service (DBS), Asaba, the state capital.
Comrade Ikeogwu stated during a get together ceremony in honour of the retired Okpewho at the New Secretariat Complex in Asaba.
The union leader who spoke through the Vice Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Comrade Salvation Ogono, maintained that Mr. Okpewho had contributed immensely towards the advancement of the Journalism profession in the state and beyond, adding that the various radio and television programmes he anchored at the DBS were quite educative, entertaining, informative and incisive so much so that they added to the growth of the society.
He said that Mr. Okpewho, who is generally referred to as the Presido, was a model to very many aspiring youths who wanted to take Journalism, particularly Broadcasting, as a profession owing to the passion and professionalism with which he anchored his programme.
While wishing Mr. Okpewho good health and more success in his future endeavours, Comrade Ikeogwu enjoined journalists in the state and beyond to emulate the humility, passion, dedication, and selflessness of Mr. Okpewho in the discharge of their duties.
