UGHELLI/ Encommunium as the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare empowered ten graduates of school of trading, Mbiri, Delta State with starter pack kits and cash worth millions of naira, which he said was in line with the developmental agenda of the state government to make the state an industrial hulb.
Speaking during the third edition of the empowerment programme, the donor, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare said his passion to send ten persons from the community to Mbiri for training was borne out of his desires to make his people self reliant and to stop syndrome of begging before eating.
“My kind gesture to embark on this laudable empowerment programme every year was borne out of my passion to teach a man how to fish and not to give him fish this will enable him to become self reliant.
“The programme will remove many of our youths from the street, they will become employer of labours and it will reduce high rate of crime in our society”, he noted.
“My desire as a person is to ensure that every human being have what it take to provide all basic necessities of life for his or her immediate family, i believed in the principle of ‘Teach me how to fish, not give me fish’.
“Uwheru Kingdom are known to be industrious kingdom since origin that is why you will never see any indigene of Uwheru anywhere across the globe begging for alms when he or she is physically fit.
While urging illustrious sons and daughters of the Kingdom across the globe and well meaning Deltans and Nigerians to invest on entrepreneurship, he noted that it will minimize youths restiveness and other social vices and improve on the growth and development of the nation economy.
Earlier, he commend the massive and visible developmental strides of the state governor, Sen Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa across the State.
He urged the beneficiaries who werr drawed from all quarters and sub-communities of Uwheru Kingdom to put into good use of the equipments and cash given to them and to be a good ambassador of Uwheru kingdom.
Speaking to newsmen on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Agbemre Elohor expressed satisfaction and exhalt the philanthropic gesture of Prof. Patrick Muoboghare of empowering indigenes of the kingdom promising that the euipments and cash given will judiciously.
Meanwhile, the likes of Hon. Kenneth Ibru, Dr. Israel Imide Provost College of Education, Warri, Chief Olori Magege, chief Esenone Otoroba Ag PDP Chairman, Ughelli north, Mr. Sunny Orishedere Executive Secretary Delta State Bursary and scholarship Board described the programme as the best in the state.
Items given are; complete set sewing machines both manual and electrical, Generators set, complete set welding kits, complete set of hair dressing equipments and four hundred thousand naira.
The ceremony was well attended by top government functionaries and academicians among whom are; Chief Emmanuel Madewvaue, Vice Chairman PDP Ughelli Leaders and Elders Council, Hon Chief Esenone Otoroba Acting Chairman Ughelli North PDP, Chief Pius Ovbije, Hon Kenneth Ibru former Chairman Ughelli North, Hon Barr Prince Happy Oharisi.
Others includes; Mr. Sunny Orishedere Executive Secretary Delta State Bursary and scholarship Board, Chief Comrd Olori Magege, Dr. Dickson Oyivwi Provost College of Education Warri, Dr Isreal O. Imide Provost College of Education Mosogar, DSP Benjamin Gometi of NPF, Revd Anago Godsblessing and host of other politicians across the state.
