Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) frontline Delta State 2023 Governorship race aspirant, Olorogun David Edevbie, has pledged to restore the Masterplan for the development of Asaba, the Delta State Capital Territory, when elected Governor of the state.
Edevbie made the pledge while interacting with PDP stalwarts, delegates and party faithfuls of Oshimili South, in Asaba on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022.
Pointing out that he has lived in Asaba for over two decades, over one third of his life, and that it is his home, the three times Commissioner of Finance and immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa promised to protect the city, its people, all residents and make it an industrial and tourist hub to achieve its full potentials as a capital territory.
“Because of the peaceful of the people and atmosphere of Asaba, most investors would like to invest here and I will see to this happens quickly when I became Governor”.
On Asaba environs, Edevbie promised the completion of Oko Community road and to connect it to Abar-Unor and other parts of Ndokwa East.
He said it was ironical that Asaba was having water supply challenges when there is the River Niger.
“We must revive the Asaba Water Scheme when elected,” Edevbie insisted.
Edevbie, who has been widely tipped to win the PDP Governorship primary said he would make the newly established Dennis Osadebey University a center of excellence when elected.
While commending Governor Okowa on road construction and drainages across the State, he promised to improve on it and stretch the construction of storm drainage to Okwe.
“With good roads network, constant power supply and improved security system, investors would come in which will help to reduce unemployment because Government alone cannot employ everybody.”
He said he would ensure the construction and realisation of Asaba International Market situated before the Niger Head Bridge.
Edevbie assured the people of his cordial relationship with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, pointing out that insinuations that Okowa was against him is just the ploy of political mischief makers to confuse the people as they are afraid of his capacity and wide acceptance as the best hand for the job.
“Governor Okowa thought me as my senior colleague in the Cabinet until he appointed me his Commissioner of Finance and Chief of Staff. He is my boss and remains my boss. He knows my capacity to deliver. He knows that I am the one who can stand tall among other Governors and at the federal arena to promote, protect and defend the interest of Delta State, and I am confident he will choose to have me to succeed him to carry on his good works and improve on his legacies. Those saying he is against me are just mischief makers who, seeing they cannot match my capacity, only resorted to false propaganda to confuse and deceive the people.”
