Former House of Representatives Member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and now Director General (D-G) of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor has denied the allegation that she beat up a 68 years old woman leveled against her by supposed cousin, Mr. Sunday Odiaka in Ubulu-uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
She denied the allegation yesterday when reacting to questions from pressmen in Ubulu-uku.
According to the former lawmaker, “Sunday Odiaka, my supposed cousin was attacking my person and family members including my late father on social media and I reported him to the appropriate traditional organs in Ubulu-uku”.
“Ubulu-uku has a tradition you whereby you don’t use outside means to seek redress against your fellow kindred until after exploring the family, quarter and Obi in Council otherwise you will be sanctioned even when you are right. I explored all those means before officially reporting the unwarranted attacks to the police”.
“In July, Chief Amaechi Odiaka, the father of Sunday Odiaka who happens to be my Uncle came to appeal to me pleading with me and my elder brother that I should withdraw my complaints against him which I respected and withdrew after much plea from other family members and kindreds. After which, Sunday Odiaka himself sent me two short messages (sms) on the 31, of July, 2020, thanking me for withdrawing my case against him”. She added.
Mrakpor said “But, when he resumed his subtle attacks on me again following the outcome of the just concluded People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship primaries in Aniocha South Local Government Area, and leading series of protest against me to Government House Asaba on the 22 and another one on the 23 in Ubuluku here on the 23 of December, 2020, I decided to go to his father’s house to report him to my Uncle, his father. Unknown to me, the father wasn’t in but the mother who instead of calming me down started attacking me verbally and we exchanged words”. She stated.
“What happened was verbal altercations and no physical contact. We had heated argument as women but I didn’t lift my hands to touch her”. Mrakpor added
On the alleged imposition of his younger brother as the PDP Chairmanship candidate for Aniocha South LGA in the forthcoming Delta State LGAs Elections and impunity, Mrakpor said that Pastor Jude Ugbah is qualified in all requirements and he has a right to aspire for any political position he’s interested in.
“The only sin against my brother is he’s related to me and being a woman some mischief makers thinks I am not approachable because of my firmness to issues”. She said.
Mrakpor revealed that the leader of PDP in Aniocha South was Hon. Chris Agbogu, a former Minister and member of the Federal Executive Council. Adding that the PDP used the Electoral College option of electing candidates in Aniocha South and of all the aspirants that aspired for the Chairmanship position, his younger brother got the highest votes through signatories.
“Brother Chambers, my Uncle as we used to call Sunday Odiaka’s father is a very nice and well mannered man. He is a honest man with dignity. But his wife, the mother of Sunday is the opposite of my uncle”. Mrakpor noted.
The alleged beaten to coma was a cooked up story by Sunday. The police can testify to that because when we went back to the house with the police the woman was there quarreling and boasting to follow the police to station that her son was in Lagos. She even refused to give the police her son’s phone number until I provided it and when he was called on phone he told the police that his lawyer will reach the police”. She stated.
“To puncture the lies of beaten his mother to coma, you journalists can investigate through his complicated posts on his Facebook page of how he hid himself and recording only audio without videos evidence of only the mother’s voice and later posts of how his mother blood pressure rose follow the wrangling until she was taken to the hospital for revival”.
“Ask him which hospital and the names of the good Samaritans that rescued her and eventually took her to the hospital. I didn’t lift my hands to touch her. Sunday Odiaka lied”. She submitted.
The former lawmaker however disclosed to SPADE NG News that she will be pressing charges against the online platform that published the alleged beaten up of a 68 years old woman lies against her and those attacking her person with defamation publications in the social media.
