100 indigent persons in Eruemukohwarien Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, have been enrolled into the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme.
The beneficiaries, who were registered at the Eruemukohwarien Town Hall, were sponsored by Deacon Sunday Aghogho Omamofo, a member of the Board of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission.
Presenting a plaque of honour to Deacon Omamofo as a Health Ambassador in recognition of his exemplary commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable members of society, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, expressed pride in Deacon Omamofo for the gesture.
Dr. Akpoveta stated that philanthropy in health insurance is the ultimate gift to give anyone and called on other well-meaning individuals and groups to contribute funds to support vulnerable persons and increase their lifespan.
In an interview, Deacon Omamofo said he felt fulfilled seeing the joy on the faces of the beneficiaries, adding that health is wealth.
The President General of Eruemukohwarien community, Mr. Solomon Okorodudu, represented by the Chairman of Health and Education, Comrade Stephen Ukedjere, lauded Dr. Akpoveta for his passion in championing the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission and conveyed the community’s appreciation to the State Government.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to their sponsor for extending his philanthropic activities to them.
A similar gesture was witnessed at Emevor Community, in Isoko North Local Government Area, where health insurance was purchased for 100 vulnerable indigenes, who were instantly enrolled into the scheme at the Emevor Town Hall.
The Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, praised the sponsor, Comrade Glory Ikinumore, and urged others to follow suit.
While presenting an award of Health Ambassador to Comrade Ikinumore, the DG commended the state Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his support of the Commission and assured the people of the Government’s commitment to their welfare.
The sponsor, Comrade Glory Ikinumore, who is also a member of the Governing Board of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, said the gesture was motivated by his desire to see his people healthy, especially now that the cost of living is skyrocketing. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, and insurance cards were later presented to them, granting access to free health treatment for a period of one year.
