Niger Delta Security Ambassadors and Volunteers (NDSAV) has urged the Federal Government and NNPCL to renew the surveillance contract earlier awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited in order to consolidate on the gains already recorded so far.
NDSAV is a grassroot network of professionals and activists who are past students leaders, youth leaders, oil and gas exploration and production experts, medical professionals,human rights and environmental rights activists from oil producing and Pipeline hosting communities across Niger Delta States who met in Warri, Delta State in November 2022 decided to collaborate with Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd after critically x-raying the rapid increase in oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta for over a decade which spanned to the third quarter of 2022 with its attendant effects on the nation’s Economy, Job losses, threat to healthy living and the destruction of the Niger Delta environment.
In a communique issued on Saturday August 19,2023 signed by the Coordinator, Comrade Kwakpovwe Efe Feludu, Secretary, Barrister Andrew Edirin Efole and PRO, Comrade Stanley Umukoro lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Ministry (Oil), and Rt Hon Ekperipe Ekpo Minister of State, (Gas).The group congratulated Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo on their well deserved appointments and appealed to them to use their good offices to see to the renewal of the contract.
According to the group ,”since the advent of activities of the Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd in collaboration with other security agencies in the security and protection of the country’s oil installations both the Federal government and the NNPCL have all applauded the major boost the nation had recorded due to the gross increase in the country’s crude oil production output”.
“We call for the renewal of the contract because the uniqueness and transparency of the modus-operandi of the Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd is one that is all encompassing as it is purely community based carrying along those on the lower rung (men, women and youths) of each communities in a most transparent and organized manner as never seen before, it is worthy of commendation “.
“The surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nig Limited is being duly implemented in strict compliance with all terms and conditions to protect all oil pipelines criss- crossing nearly all states in the Niger Delta such as Delta, Ondo, Imo, Rivers and some parts of Bayelsa state in collaboration with major tribes along the communities that host the pipelines. The firm being contracted to man NNPCL oil pipelines network nationwide due to massive oil theft and with the success recorded successes, so far illegal bunkering has reduced in the Niger Delta area”.
The group noted that the renewal of the contract will continue to guarantee the participation of the host communities thereby allaying the fears all of stakeholders which in turn has been in the best interest of the communities, Multi Nationals, the Region and the Federal Government
“We are therefore calling on the Federal Government to do the needful and renew the contract as it is the right way to go in other to avoid loopholes and unnecessary tension within the region so as to continue to sustain
and consolidate on the gains already acheived and recorded”.
