    Group Urge FG To Renew Surveillance Contract Of Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd

    Niger Delta Security Ambassadors and Volunteers (NDSAV) has urged the Federal Government and NNPCL to renew the surveillance contract earlier awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited in order to consolidate on the gains already recorded so far.

    NDSAV is a grassroot network of professionals and activists who are past students leaders, youth leaders, oil and gas exploration and production experts, medical professionals,human rights and environmental rights activists from oil producing and Pipeline hosting communities across Niger Delta States who met in Warri, Delta State in November 2022 decided to collaborate with Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd after critically x-raying the rapid increase in oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta for over a decade which spanned to the third quarter of 2022 with its attendant effects on the nation’s Economy, Job losses, threat to healthy living and the destruction of the Niger Delta environment.

    In a communique issued on Saturday August 19,2023 signed by the Coordinator, Comrade Kwakpovwe Efe Feludu, Secretary, Barrister Andrew Edirin Efole and PRO, Comrade Stanley Umukoro lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the appointment of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Ministry (Oil), and Rt Hon Ekperipe Ekpo Minister of State, (Gas).The group congratulated Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo on their well deserved appointments and appealed to them to use their good offices to see to the renewal of the contract.

    According to the group ,”since the advent of activities of the Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd in collaboration with other security agencies in the security and protection of the country’s oil installations both the Federal government and the NNPCL have all applauded the major boost the nation had recorded due to the gross increase in the country’s crude oil production output”.

    “We call for the renewal of the contract because the uniqueness and transparency of the modus-operandi of the Tantita Security Services Nig Ltd is one that is all encompassing as it is purely community based carrying along those on the lower rung (men, women and youths) of each communities in a most transparent and organized manner as never seen before, it is worthy of commendation “.

    “The surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nig Limited is being duly implemented in strict compliance with all terms and conditions to protect all oil pipelines criss- crossing nearly all states in the Niger Delta such as Delta, Ondo, Imo, Rivers and some parts of Bayelsa state in collaboration with major tribes along the communities that host the pipelines. The firm being contracted to man NNPCL oil pipelines network nationwide due to massive oil theft and with the success recorded successes, so far illegal bunkering has reduced in the Niger Delta area”.

    The group noted that the renewal of the contract will continue to guarantee the participation of the host communities thereby allaying the fears all of stakeholders which in turn has been in the best interest of the communities, Multi Nationals, the Region and the Federal Government

    “We are therefore calling on the Federal Government to do the needful and renew the contract as it is the right way to go in other to avoid loopholes and unnecessary tension within the region so as to continue to sustain
    and consolidate on the gains already acheived and recorded”.

A group, South-South Professional & Transparency Initiatives (SSPTI), has challenged indigenes of Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government area to visit Nigeria Police Force CID, Area 10 Abuja, to submit relevant documents relating to its ownership claim of the disputed land with Issele-Azagba people in Aniocha North Council area of Delta state. The group who expressed concern that the Okpanam Indigenes who had been the aggressors since the land dispute started about 3years ago have not deem it fit to visit the Force CID Area 10 Abuja to tender necessary documents to prove its ownership claim since the matter was transferred to Abuja, described their failure to do so as irresponsible and an act of cowardice. It would be recalled that following an alleged bias of some senior police officers at the Delta state Police Command, Asaba, in handling the matter, some displeased stakeholders in the case had to petition the Force Headquarters and the matter was subsequently transferred to the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun’s office. It was gathered that based on the violence and killings recorded over the disputed land, including the two policemen murdered 3years ago and three youths killed early this year, IGP Egbetokun, personally directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG CID), Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, to investigate the matter and bring to justice those responsible for the killings of his men and the youths. Reacting to the deliberate efforts by the Okpanam indigenes to frustrate the process of investigations by falling to appear before DIG Alabi at the Force CID Area 10 Abuja, SSPTI in a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. Ugochukwu Alozie, yesterday, noted that its obvious that the Okpanam indigenes do not have any document to prove their ownership case on the disputed land. According to the statement; “As a follow up to our earlier statement where we made it loud and clear that the Okpanam indigenes who had been the aggressor to the Issele-Azagba people of Aniocha North, over the land in question, do not have any document to prove their ownership, we have also discovered efforts by the same people to frustrate the ongoing investigations by not showing up at the Force CID, Area 10 Abuja. “We have carried out our independent investigations at the Police Headquarters, and find out that none of the key actors in Okpanam community laying claim to the disputed land have turned up at the place to present documents to back their claim so as to enable the investigating team led by DIG Alabi to carry out the mandate handed over to it by IGP Egbetokun”. “While we find it difficult to understand why none Okpanam indigenes had appeared before the investigating panel in Abuja, we are also concerned how a kingdom that is laying claim to a disputed land cannot present documents to prove its ownership case beyond all reasonable doubts”. “We are therefore using this medium to call on the Okpanam community indigenes to be bold enough and come before the investigating panel and tender the documents relating to their ownership claim of the disputed land area so as to enable the team conclude of the assignment handed to it by the IGP Egbetokun”. “In a situation where they continue to evade appearing before the investigating panel, we want to urge the police to declare wanted the major actors both within and outside their community, as well as some of the senior police officers who had aided them to unleash series of terror that had claimed lives and bring them to justice”, it stated.
