Delta State All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governorship candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has come under fire for attacking the Deputy President of the Senate and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in an interview he granted.
Decrying the ugly development in the heart of Deltans, a pressure group known as Forum of former Students Union Leaders described Chief Ogboru’s attack as misguided, imprudent and ridiculous diatribe, who out of extreme frustration in getting his ill-fated gubernatorial ambition off the ground despite full funding from the Delta State Government, has decided to pick on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as being responsible for his frustration and still-birth ambition.
In a statement signed by Comrade Kennedy Tabuko on behalf of the group, they extolled the qualities of the Delta Central lawmaker as a goal getter that has attracted so much development not only to Delta Central but the whole State, saying that Deltans have endorsed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the next governor and that is what matters.
The group’s statement reads below as obtained by this medium.
PRESS STATEMENT
Pity as Extreme Frustration hit Great Ogboru, turns Okowa’s mouth piece
While it is not in our character to respond to every dick and harry who is threatened by the ever rising and intimidating profile of the APC Gubernatorial candidate, we members of the Forum of Former Students Union Leaders have resolved to come out openly in defense of our very brightest political star by setting the records straight to disabuse the minds of unsuspecting members of the society who may be fed with the garbage from a sinking and thoroughly deflated political expedition of a serial failure, who pride himself as a ‘general’, yet without a troop.
The latest hobby of this political jobber being funded by the Delta State Government for obvious reason, is to be the indirect mouth-piece of the Delta State PDP, seeing no evil in the PDP-led state government, yet pretending to be contesting against the PDP whereas, his only ambition is to stop the unstoppable ship of hope of the APC which is already on high sea on the divine voyage to deliver Delta State from the grip of a political emperor who promoting a puppet in a covert third term dream having failed on all indices of good governance in Delta State.
Chief Great Ogboru, in his highly disgusting, preposterous and distasteful diatribe, had said Omo-Agege is irresponsible and unfit to be Governor. He went further to allege that Omo-Agege courted his endorsement for the 2023 general elections. We understand the frustration of Chief Great Ogboru, a complete and gazetted ingrate who was helped to attain the peak of his career some years ago but lost the momentum out of pettiness, selfishness and over-bloated ego. All those who worked with him in the past he envied and sought to destroy, forcing all the men of goodwill that invested in his political ambition to run for their dear lives and seek for shelter elsewhere.
We only pity the handful of supporters still thinking Great Ogboru is taking them somewhere. What they must understand is that Great Ogboru has signed a path with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to work for the Delta PDP with the sole agenda of stop Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. He is not running to win any election in 2023. When he said he would rather endorse Sheriff Oborevwori instead of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, he is being frank with the terms of the contract. Great Ovedje Ogboru is not in the 2023 elections, and he knows it. He has since ‘cashed out’ to simply act as a nuisance ahead of 2023.
We have been watching political events in the state and we are concerned with the outlandish posture of Great Ogboru and his sleepless cyber mercenaries who are all over the social media with the sole aim of bringing Senator Ovie Omo-Agege down. We in Delta the Forum of Former Students Union Leaders do not begrudge Great Ogboru, rather we pity him. Though his bank account has been well loaded by Okowa, he has lost his face before Deltans. He cannot even organize a public rally as a test of popularity anymore. Whereas, some other mushroom political parties are flexing muscles with rallies in the state, Great Ogboru’s APGA has been holding rallies in beer parlours and hotel rooms. What a terrible twist of fate and fall from glory!
We want Deltans to understand that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is not the cause of Ogboru’s crash from grace to grass. He brought it upon himself. His ego will not allow him to test popularity in any political party’s primary election. Whoever dares him in party primaries automatically becomes an enemy. APGA, where he has decided to hide himself is an empty house without the soul and spirit of the game of politics. So when he decided to pick on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as object of his frustration, we understand his wretchedness and busted ego. All we feel for him is pity. But we will not tolerate his unkind and unpatriotic stance of ‘If I do not get it, nobody will’.
We quite appreciate the fact that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is not distracted by the sundry invectives and primitive claims by agents of the state government who are already feeling the heat. His eyes are fixed on the goal. A thousand Great Ogborus cannot stop this movement. Deltans have endorsed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the next governor and that is what matters. He is unstoppable and governor Okowa knows this fact. Assailed by an avalanche of enemies, Elijah’s servant had cried out, thinking the battle was lost. But Elijah assured him that those with him were much more than the enemies they see. We are glad to announce that even among the paltry APGA members in Delta State, Omo-Agege’s supporters are majority. Same applies to the PDP family in the state. 2023 is a done deal. No room for distractions. The Forum of Former Students Union Leaders is glad to be part of this movement. The take home is that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is your next governor!
Signed:
Comrade Kennedy Tabuko
