It was the gathering of political heavyweights, business moguls,diplomatic corps,and other eminent dignaries in Delta and byond when a requiem mass was head in honour of Late Sunny Odogwu at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church West End Asaba.
Among dignitaries were the State deputy governor Barrister Kingsley Otuaro,the Edo State Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki,former governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom including Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan ,Chief James Ibori and Obong Victor Atah.
In a sermon, the Catholic Bishop of Isele Uku Diocese Bishop Odogwu Elue said the death of a christian was a transition to eternal glory.
Bishop Elue said the good deeds of a man has a way of making a place for him in eternity and urged all to live holy to make heaven in death.
He described the deceased as a man that used his life for the service of God and humanity.
Governor ifeanyi Okowa represented by his deputy Barrister Kingsley Otuaro said the death of Chief Sunny Odogwu was a huge loss to the state,the country and the African continent and enjoined his children and family to uphold the ideals he stood for.
He condoled with the bereaved family and reminded of the need to take solace in the fact that the business icon died in Christ.
Other speakers including Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of the Enugu Diocese of Anglican Communion and Very Reverend Father Emmanuel Ede affirmed that Late Odogwu used his weath to affect lives and the promotion of the gospel and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
Late Sunny Odogwu died at the age of 91.
