Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, has again highlighted the enviable selfless service of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, describing his MORE agenda as people focused.
Speaking to Radio Nigeria Correspondent on Thursday in Lagos, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe disclosed that governor Oborevwori has been working to ensure the safety of life and property, growing the state economy, and upscaling infrastructure development.
Oghenesivbe noted that governor Oborevwori’s selfless service is indeed resonating with Deltans, adding that as the first Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly to become Governor, he’s been working tirelessly to fulfill campaign promises aimed at advancing Delta.
He further stated that Oborevwori administration has been focused on continuity, building on the progress made by his predecessor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, while also investing in road rehabilitation and reconstruction, with a focus on phased development across the state.
Oghenesivbe posited that as a pragmatic leader and seasoned Democratic, governor Oborevwori before proceeding on vacation, effortlessly transmitted power to his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, to act on his behalf.
Transmitting power, according to the Bureau DG, points to show that governor Oborevwori adheres to the rule of law, protects the supremacy of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, demonstrated uncommon openness and integrity, while also working harmoniously with his deputy.
“Delta is progressively transiting to greater heights in all sectors of the state economy. Hard times are here occasioned by hyper inflation and weak Naira, but governor Oborevwori is skillfully navigating the storm, and managing the state economy to the admiration of the people.
“We thank God, for the improved state revenue, both federal allocations and Internally Generated Revenue, IGR. He’s deploying the state resources prudently for the attainment of set out goals. Delta is in good standing and making substantial progress.
“Infrastructure development, education, health, youths empowerment, job and health creation, as well as huge financial support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME, are receiving attention on a regular basis. He’s focused on growing the state economy.
“The agricultural sector is growing rapidly due to governor Oborevwori’s timely intervention and financial assistance to farmers through provision of farm implements, fertilizer, seedlings, etc al.
“Under the D-CARES programme, a total of 208,000 farmers have benefited from the state intervention, and additional 2,000 farmers will soon be empowered as a result of the N1 Billion counterpart funding paid recently by the State government under the AUDA/NEPAD partnership.
“In addition to prudent management of resources, governor Oborevwori is also focused on payment of legitimate loans obtained by previous administration.
“Over N160 billion has been paid within 16 months in office, bringing the state debt profile to as low as N303 billion from nearly N466 billion as at May 29, 2023 when he took over the mantle of leadership as governor.
“Oborevwori has not borrowed a penny since May 29, 2023 till date, and not willing to borrow from any financial institution home or abroad. Rather, he’s leveraging on prudent management of state resources, and also saved over N200 billion operating cost within 16 months.
“For the first time since the creation of Delta State, construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, was engaged by this administration under Oborevwori’s leadership to construct three mega flyovers, pedestrian bridges and reconstruction of Effurun Roundabout flyover to the tune of over N78 billion.
“More of such gigantic infrastructure projects shall be executed across the three senatorial districts. The reconstruction of the Ughelli-Asaba road dualization is ongoing and shall be completed within the lifespan of this administration, by the Grace of God.
“I can go on and on. In Delta, we have good stories to tell because God graciously gave us a servant leader as governor.
“Governor Oborevwori is currently turning the three senatorial districts in Delta State to construction sites,” Oghenesivbe said.
