The Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has been commended for approving the Delta Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) program that has impacted greatly in the lives of the direct beneficiaries who need the assistance.
At Isiokolo community in Ethiope East local Area where Mrs Idekpome Egodotaire said she had received N20,000 naira twice now and it has indeed taken care of her daily needs with the stipends. She was indeed elated and thanked the governor even as she prayed that it should be sustained.
Mrs Akpedena Arhabor also from Isiokolo said the money, among other things, had assisted her to buy medications that had made her to be healthy. She revealed that this the first time she is getting benefit from the government of the day.
At Ekurede- Urhobo in Warri South Local Government Areas where we met Mrs Christy Esquire who was highly appreciative of this laudable initiative of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori disclosed that when livelihood grant of N100,000 got to her she used it to increase the goods in her provision shop. She also noted that the shop is putting food daily on the table for her family.
At Amatebe Community in Bomadi local government area, an elderly woman Mrs Samao Sunday Sapele who spoke in Ijaw dialect, expressed joy that it is the stipend that has been sustaining her and that the Delta CARES program should be sustained for the sake of the elderly whose children might not be able to provide for the old parents.
Mrs Helen Tamigbe, another elderly woman from the Amatebe community, applauded the governor for coming to the aid of the vulnerable people like them who have no hope, but he has brought hope to them. She prayed God’s protection for the governor throughout his tenure and assured her of their support.
At the Ayama community, we met Mrs Baby Ekioezonaemi, a physically challenged person who bought a water tank with the funds assistance to improve her water selling business in the community opined that the business is growing better than before.
A fish seller at Ayama community also disclosed that the first N20,000 paid to her was what made her to still be in the fish business and it has also upscaled the business reasonably.
The Delta CARES team were received with appreciation from the various communities across the state and requested the team to thank the governor for implementing such a laudable program that has so improved the lives of the vulnerable ones.
