The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye has settled the rift between two factional groups of the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter by getting the two chairmen to agree to the peace initiative of his office.
The settlement came after a reconciliatory meeting was held at the Press Centre of Government House, Asaba on Thursday 13th February, 2025.
The SSA who pleaded with all aggrieved factional members, especially the two chairmen – Elder (Dr) Dike Awana of the Frontline News and Mr. Ike Abiagom of the Newsbreeze to shield their swords in the interest of peace, reiterated the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s agenda for peace in the State as encapsulated in his M.O.R.E Agenda.
At the end of the meeting where stakeholders like the 90 years old publisher of Ika Voice Newspapers, Elder Joe Onyibe, publisher of Anioma Trust Newspapers, Comrade Patrick Ochei, publisher of Ughelli Times Magazine, Chief Daniel Ekiugbo, publisher of Warri Voice Newspapers, Mr. Femi Odonmeta, publisher of Delta Now Newspapers, Elder Cyprian Eboagwu and others spoke, the warring chairmen agreed to support the office of the SSA in mainstreaming peace in the association as well as continue to project the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori through the dissemination of government policies and programmes to the grassroots.
They anchored on the fact that the M.O.R.E Agenda which is “Meaningful development, Opportunity for all, Realistic reforms and Enhanced peace and security” had already set the pace for peaceful resolution of every conflict, and so therefore, would ensure that the Governor is not disappointed in the publishers.
As such, the entire publishers unanimously passed a vote of implicit confidence in the Governor as a mark of respect for the cordial working relationship already established with him, as well as their trust in his well focused leadership.
