Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has said that the cordial relationship between the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, and the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, is normal, ideal and shall be sustained throughout the lifespan of this administration, and beyond.
He made the assertion on Sunday in a phone-in live interview with a popular radio network News, saying that the exclusive and personalized leadership style adopted by governor Oborevwori since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, clearly revealed that the immediate past governor, Senator Okowa’s shadow does not and will never reflect in decision making and governance issues as mischievously alleged by those who does not mean well for the state.
Dr Oghenesivbe, assured that governor Oborevwori will continue to sustain his robust relationship with Senator Okowa and other past governors, as well as political leaders across the three senatorial districts irrespective of political affiliations, and not minding the pains and agony it would inflict on those deeply troubled by the watertight relationship existing in the state’s leadership and political structures.
The Communication Bureau Chief, disclosed that immediate past governor, Senator Okowa does not interfere with governance issues in Delta State, nothing that some persons who are currently exhibiting dual personality in early preparation for the 2027 general elections in the state, are too quick to initiative media attacks on their perceived opponents, noting that such media strategy may in some ways impact negatively on reputation and political relevance.
Oghenesivbe said governor Oborevwori is a pragmatic and humble leader who would not want to join issues with any politician, no matter the level of divisive strategies and media propaganda sponsored against this administration, pointing out that the governor remain focused on the ongoing meticulous implementation of his MORE agenda which had impacted positively on the socioeconomic wellbeing of all Deltans.
He appealed to governor Oborevwori’s detractors to have a change of heart, and join hands with him to advance Delta beyond 2027, assuring that come 2027, Government House Asaba will not be vacant, because the good governance strides coupled with the exclusive and personalized leadership style of the governor will speak very loud at the polls.
Oghenesivbe, advised media executives, bloggers, social media influencers, online newspapers publishers and practicing journalists in the state to continue to showcase the mega projects embarked upon by the governor across the three senatorial districts, urging them to come up with useful suggestions and constructive criticisms that would enhance the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori.
He commended Journalists in the state under the highly proactive and result oriented leadership of Comrade Churchill Oyowe, for adhering strictly to ethical standards, and for exhibiting high standard of professionalism in the discharge of their constitutionally assigned responsibility as watchdogs of society, and as members of the fourth estate of the realm.
Oghenesivbe, said Journalists are critical partners in governance and nation building, urging them not to make themselves available to mischief makers, self centered politicians and vindictive elements who are hell bent on fueling unnecessary media wars, hate speech, fake news and media propaganda capable of causing breach of peace, insecurity and divisive tendencies.
He emphasized on the need for collective synergy to sustain peaceful coexistence, devoid of tribal or ethnic sentiments, noting that governor Oborevwori has performed creditably well, and beyond expectations of Deltans within 15 months in office and counting.
“The social media is flooded with divisive media propaganda sponsored by some political gladiators, aimed at causing hate, promote ethnic and tribal sentiments or considerations. Their focus is on governor Sheriff Oborevwori and immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON.
“The simple gospel truth is that governor Oborevwori and Senator Okowa remain united. Their robust relationship shall continue. Media propaganda cannot separate the two indefatigable leaders.
“That same measure of solid relationship also exist between governor Oborevwori, other past governors and political leaders in the state, irrespective of political affiliations. The leadership style of our amiable governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, is unique, personalized and does not fuse with that of any past governor.
“Political observers and the good people of Delta State, are aware that governor Oborevwori’s good Governance strategies and leadership style is not comparable to that of any past governor in the state. His leadership style is incredibly different from Senator Okowa’s exclusive style.
“Okowa does not interfere and will never interfere with governance issues under Oborevwori. And as great leaders of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, they are bonded together in political leadership, and may consult each other on issues that would move our party forward, deliver dividends of democracy to all Deltans.
