As part of deliberate efforts to put smile on the faces of the less privilege in the society particularly at this festive season,the Gen Azazi Foundation in partnership with IBI Foundation has visited some children homes,
Correctional Centres as well as the Cameron IDP Camp at Opolo in Yenagoa,capital of oil rich Bayelsa State .
The places visited by the members of both Foundation are Destiny Home in Igbogene, Onopa community, Correctional Centre (Prison) and the Cameron IDP Camp all in Yenagoa to present food and drinks.
According to the Team Leader, Matthew Azazi, the move which is part of its “Feed a Thousand Initiative” that taking place in all the 36 States of the federation and is designed to bring smiles as well as celebrate the season with the less privilege during the festive season.
Azazi said the both foundation decided to celebrate the Christmas with those who sometimes are neglected by the society.
“The joy of Christmas was all about giving and sharing with loved ones and people around hence we decided to reach out to those not often reached, maybe because of their situation”.
According to Azazi the project to feed a thousand was not just a statement but a deliberate effort to feed one thousand persons under the initiative across the federation particularly those who cannot celebrate the Christmas for one reason or the other.
Azazi noted that Christmas was a reminder of how God gave his only begotten son and it is a season of giving hence the Gen Azazi Foundation in partnership with IBI Foundation is not neglecting the fact that some person cannot celebrate because of their predicament.
“We remember the reason for the season and that is why we had to stick to the deepest part of humanity to share and give to the less privilege, spend time, eat and drink with them in order to give them a positive outlook as we prepare to enter a new year”.
Azazi further states”Christmas is a season of peace and happiness, it is the special season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ though its original purpose has grown to be a symbolic time for living in peace and love”.
He noted that the Gen Azazi Foundation will unveil some other programmes it intends to embark on in the new year stressing that late General Owoye Azazi served the nation in different capacities in the army and had a distinguished military career.
The beneficiaries of the gesture were all full of smiles while they eat and drank with with members of Gen Azazi and IBI foundations and poured encomiums on them saying that they have made the Christmas celebration a worth while one for them.
They prayed for the team and exchanged wonderful pleasantries.
