Disappointment, as usual, trailed reactions to the recent outburst of the erratic Fred Latimore Esq, where he fruitlessly tried to fault the harmonization counsel of some leaders of the PDP including the immediate past Commissioner of Education, Erudite Professor Patrick Muoboghare where they admonished the party against taking a stand in the Olorogun David Edevbie VS Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborrevwori’s court case to avoid brewing bad blood amongst party members.
It is without doubt that the primary election of the People’s Democratic Party was free and fair. But were the activities to the build up of the election free or fair? The fault line erupted from the screening process, the screening committee, for reasons best known to them, chose to overlook the alleged discrepancies observed in the certificates of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborrevwori.
As a committee why overlook such conspicuous errors knowing fully well that by law, according to the Supreme Court judgment in the case of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) & 2 Ors. V. Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo & 3 Ors which ousted the then Bayelsa State Governor elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborrevwori should not be screened to contest the primary elections! Overlooking those discrepancies is the bone of contention today!
While beating around the bush Fred Latimore failed to remind Deltans that the embattled speaker had not become the certified candidate of the party when an injunction was gotten to stop him from parading himself as same, so it is confusing when and how he became the sponsored candidate of the party. As a lawyer, albeit one who has never practiced, it is disappointing that Fred Latimore at his age still hasn’t learnt what a court injunction means. Very disappointing!!
Very much as against the speculations of the questionable lawyer, David Edevbie’s case in court remains the saving grace of the PDP in Delta State.
Also, it is worrisome that a self acclaimed communications expert would fail woefully in deciphering unambiguous words. At no point in time did any of the political leaders cast aspersions on our amiable Governor HE Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. On the contrary, they threw their weight behind him and his Vice Presidential ambition!!
While party leaders are trying to harmonize the party and reconcile all aggrieved members, the likes of Fred Latimore Esq. should desist from making statements that would further divide the party. The case in court is an internal affair, Olorogun David Edevbie remains a member of the PDP, and he must be accorded his due respect!!!
