A Member of the State Civil Service Commission (CSC),Chief Akpufuoma Pemu has called on Public Servants to be Delta State sensitization ambassadors to avert the impending flood disaster.
Recall that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, constituted a 14-man flood disaster management committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.
The committee was tasked to adequately sensitized Deltans on the impending flood, propose appropriate measures for the prevention and management of it, following the opening of the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon.
Chief Pemu who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated this today in Asaba in a media chat with newsmen.
He said that public servants should acquaint themselves with the necessary information pertaining to the impending flood and in turn be able to enlighten the citizenry.
He explained that communities in most cases hold public servants in high esteem which placed them(public servants) in better position to set behavioural agenda for them.
Pemu charged them to enlighten their communities especially the flood-prone areas to relocate to higher grounds to avoid possible disaster.
“The confidence reposed in you as enlightened members of your communities should be put in use now”.
“You have alot of role to play here, as you know the areas and can effectively communicate in the local language”.
“Don’t relent until you get the desired result which is the prevention of casualties from the impending flood”, Pemu said.
