The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed former Super Eagles winger Finidi George as the new head coach of the nation’s senior men’s national team (Super Eagles)
The appointment was announced in a communique on Monday
Finidi George, spent 20 months as an assistant to José Santos Peseiro, he also took over as interim coach after the Portuguese resigned
He was the Coach of Enyimba FC of Aba, leading them to their ninth league title when they won the “abridged” 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title
Born in Port Harcourt, Finidi George was a member of Nigeria’s ‘Golden Generation,’ that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Tunisia and also debuted at the World cup in USA same year
He has an illustrious playing career. He holds medals from the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in 1992, 1994, 2000, and 2002. Including appearances in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup finals.
