The Delta State Cash Transfer Unit last week in Asaba organised a 1-Day step down training program for Local Government Areas (LGA) Facilitators On National Social Safety Net Program Scale Up (NASSP-SU) from 25 LGAs of the State for enrolment of beneficiaries for the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer.
The selected Facilitators who were staff from the 25 LGAs, were trained for the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer so that they will go into the field to enroll beneficiaries into the program and the beneficiaries are expected to get stipend for three months.
The enrolment process is geared towards building capacity of participants’ and guide them on how to implement the programme. Also, to ensure that the participants have an understanding of guiding policies, procedures and processes with a view to accurately sensitization and capture targeted beneficiaries register base for programme benefits.
Further more, The enrolment process provide a secured electronic platform for an end-to- end transfer, tracking and reconciliation of beneficiaries to ensure accountability and transparency.
The National Cash Transfer is an arm of National social investment programme under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, responsible for management of the National Cash Transfer to the poor and vulnerable Households in Nigeria.
Declaring the training open, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Mrs. Modupe Patience Oshariode, the Head of Unit of the State Cash Transfer Unit of the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, commended Federal Government for the initiative that it would uplift the living standard of the poor and vulnerable to feel, the impact of Government irrespective of political affiliation.
Gov Oborevwori called on facilitators to be attentive and put what they will learn into practice in their various LGAs.
In her personal statement, Oshariode, who was also the lead resource person/ trainers of the Facilitators disclosed that a total of 67,437 individuals would be enrolled into the programme. She added that today’s activity is aimed at training 110 Facilitators from the 25 LGAs that would enroll all beneficiaries of Delta State who will be receiving #25,000 monthly for 3 months. She affirmed that the programme would directly be touching the lives of poor and Vulnerable without Governments interference or political favour.
The resource Team leader thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the programme through the Delta State Ministry of Humanitarian Service. She warned facilitators to be careful in their capturing of beneficiaries because they are being monitored by the authorities concerned.
While assuring journalists of their readiness through the training they received to go into the field to capture Household Beneficiaries, some Facilitators including Agboji Benedict and Duku Martha from Oshimili North and Uvwie LGAs who spoke, appreciates Federal and State Government for supporting the poor in society, they commended those in the field of National Cash Transfer for doing a job well done.
“The N25,000 will go along way to cushion for the effect of a hard economy we are currently experiencing in the country” the Facilitators noted.
The highlight of the programme was presentation by resource persons on the topics “On National Social Safety Net Program Scale Up (NASSP-SU) from 25 LGAs of the State for enrolment of beneficiaries for the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer and community mobilisation disclosure brief among others.
