An Assistant Director with the Delta State Civil Service, Mr Andrew Okurume, has retracted his comment and apologized to the pioneer Director General (D-G) of Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), Olorogun Stephen Dieseruvwe, over his false comment on social media (Facebook).
In a letter dated 14th May, 2021, shared across the social media including Facebook pages, Mr. Okurume regretted the baseless allegations which he attributed to mere emotional outburst which manifested through typographical errors in the write up.
SPADE NG News gathered that Olorogun Stephen Dieseruvwe, had instructed his legal team to commence legal action against Mr Andrew Okurume, but demanded for a retraction and apology over the false comment which alleged that he (Dieseruvwe) was removed as D-G of DESTMA as a result of issues he had with Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC).
According to Okurume in his apology letter “I, Andrew Okurume, wish to sincerely apologise to the former D-G of DESTMA, Olorogun Stephen Dieseruvwe, for my comment on his Facebook page on the 7th of May, 2021, on my misinformation over his removal as DESTMA D-G.
“I did not mean he was removed from his esteemed office as D-G of DESTMA because of involvement with ICPC case. It was a typographical error when one is typing. Dieseruvwe made good account of positions he held so far. He proved himself as a discipline man when he was D-G of DESTMA. I am very sorry for the embarrassment my comment might have caused his personality.
Affirming his position, Okurume stated further “I wish to also state here to the general public and my friends on Facebook that the former DESTMA D-G was not removed as a result of his involvement in ICPC case. I hereby retract my comment on his Facebook page”.
In his response, Dieseruvwe said “Following the retraction and public apology by Mr Andrew Okurume, and having met the conditions stipulated by the legal practitioners, Ogedegbe and Ogedegbe, I have instructed them to drop the impending legal action against Mr Andrew Okurume.
“For all those who saw reasons with me on my action, I say, THANK YOU for standing with/by me. For those who felt that my action was too severe, I pray you understand with me, as my name was at stake.
