The Rivers State Ex-Agitators Network for Development (REAND) has praised Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), under the leadership of Osahon Hosa Okunbo, for its exceptional contributions to reducing pipeline theft and increasing Nigeria’s crude oil output.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, REAND leaders, including President Comrade Henry Itazi and Secretary Comrade King Ibu, highlighted the critical role PINL has played in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil infrastructure. They emphasized that these efforts are key to achieving the country’s ambitious goal of producing 3 million barrels of crude oil per day (BPD).
The group noted that PINL’s strategic measures to secure pipelines across the Niger Delta have led to a significant decline in sabotage and theft, thereby creating a stable environment for oil exploration and transportation. This progress, they said, has been instrumental in boosting crude oil production—an essential step toward Nigeria’s economic recovery and energy security goals.
REAND also commended ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal oil bunkering operations in states like Rivers, Abia, and Cross River, describing these actions as vital to preserving the integrity of oil infrastructure.
The ex-agitators expressed their gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mele Kyari, Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), for their unwavering support of PINL’s initiatives. They urged the government to continue its backing, stressing that sustained collaboration is crucial for achieving Nigeria’s energy and production objectives.
Looking forward, REAND encouraged PINL to maintain its focus on the 3 million BPD target, recognizing the pivotal role the company plays in securing the nation’s energy future.
In their statement, REAND praised Okunbo’s leadership for transforming the security and operational efficiency of Nigeria’s oil sector, saying:
> “We commend Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited for its consistent efforts to restore the integrity of pipelines in the Niger Delta. These initiatives are central to Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading oil producers.”
> “While we celebrate these successes, we urge PINL to remain steadfast. Achieving 3 million barrels per day is an ambitious goal, but with the company’s continued dedication, it is not only attainable but well within reach.”
The group further highlighted the broader benefits of increased oil production, noting that reaching the 3 million BPD target would drive economic recovery, create jobs, and improve the livelihoods of communities across the Niger Delta.
