Prospective investors looking for a conducive environment and attractive incentives to do business have been invited to Delta State.
The Director General of the Delta Investment Development Agency (DIDA) Hon Emeke Elekeokwuri, extended the invitation in Asaba on Sunday at a hangout organized by the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Hon Elekeokwuri, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, said with abundant human and natural resources, including oil and gas, kaolin, silica, lignite, among others, in addition to the state’s energetic human capital profile, investors were in for a great deal.
He said DIDA, established in 2017 by a law enacted by the State Assembly, was fully prepared to promote, develop and regulate investment in the state, either by way of direct investment, concessioning or public/private partnership.
The DG explained that the main thrust of government was to develop investments with value chains for the creation of jobs, stressing that the era of dwelling on export-oriented investments was gone for good.
Hon Elekeokwuri said prospective investors would enjoy guaranteed peace and security for business to thrive, land allocation, tax waivers, among other incentives that would encourage them to do business in the state.
The former Lawmaker added that Delta State was accessible by air, through three airports, including the one in Asaba with cargo services; by water, through four seaports, a good network of roads and a rail line.
He solicited the support of Journalists in the state in driving the investment promotion vision of the Oborevwori administration, assuring the NUJ that the partnership, which the hangout was meant to achieve with DIDA, would work.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman, Delta State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, said the hangout was an informal setting for Journalists to unwind, share experiences, reflect on their collective vision, acknowledge the challenges in the line of duty, build lasting relationships and look forward to the future with renewed vigour and optimism, especially with the guests.
Comrade Oyowe thanked Hon Elekeokwuri for hanging out with members of the union and assured him that the relationship, which the outing was meant to establish, would be beneficial to him and his establishment.
