The Civil Society Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accredited Observers Coalition in Delta State have called on INEC to conduct Saturday’s Gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections with credibility.
The observers made the call in Asaba today during a press conference on the Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.
In a communique issued by the group and read by Comrade Okezie Odugala, the observers noted that the last Presidential and National Assembly elections of 25th February, 2023, fell short of expectations of Nigerians and the global communities and urged INEC to ensure that the BVAS and the electoral reporting Portal function optimally.
The observers, who commended the Security Agencies for carrying out their duties diligently, called on members of political parties to maintain peace and conduct themselves as responsible citizens and contribute positively to the success of the elections.
While urging the Judiciary to remain the hope of the common citizens by always standing for justice and equity, the observers also called on all to maintain law and order for sustainable development and unity of the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on Civic Engagement, Comrade Rex Anighoro, in an interview, urged all to ensure that they vote in credible leaders saying that the last election was not credible as it was flawed with irregularities.
The press conference featured questions and answers session and it was witnessed by the European Union Election Observation Mission.
