The Peace Legends Awards International is set to celebrate its 14th edition on April 27, 2025, honoring 100 outstanding brands and personalities who are driving transformation across Nigeria and Africa.
Founder of the prestigious awards, Mr. Jesse Osero Amiri, alongside a team of distinguished researchers committed to peace in Nigeria and Africa, has announced that this year’s edition will recognize individuals excelling in politics, business, science, arts, activism, and sports.
Among the notable awardees, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo will be honored as Africa’s Legend of Peace 2025, while Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the renowned business magnate, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In a press statement, Amiri emphasized Africa’s rich cultural and natural heritage, describing it as the cradle of civilization that continues to supply the world with vital resources for industrialization.“Africa is a continent of great minds—leaders, entrepreneurs, entertainers, activists, and visionaries—who have shaped history and continue to shape the future. From the struggle for independence to technological innovations and economic transformation, these individuals have left an indelible mark on the continent,” Amiri stated.
Highlighting Nigeria’s influence, he noted that the country has produced some of Africa’s most impactful figures in governance, business, and culture. He also reflected on the contributions of historical African leaders, including:
- Nelson Mandela – Anti-apartheid revolutionary and global peace icon.
- Kwame Nkrumah – Leader in Ghana’s independence and African unity movement.
- Obafemi Awolowo – Advocate for free education and one of Nigeria’s foremost thinkers.
- Nnamdi Azikiwe – Nigeria’s first President and key nationalist leader.
- Julius Nyerere – Father of Tanzanian independence.
- Paul Kagame – Architect of Rwanda’s post-genocide transformation.
- Ellen Johnson Sirleaf – Africa’s first elected female head of state and a symbol of female empowerment.
According to Amiri, this year’s Peace Legend Award is not just about Africa’s pioneering figures but also about contemporary leaders making significant strides in their respective fields. He assured that the selection process has been transparent, rigorous, and thorough, ensuring that only the most deserving individuals are recognized.
The grand award ceremony will take place at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, starting at 6 PM, and will be hosted by ace comedian Gordon’s D Beliconi.
Amiri promised an exciting and unforgettable evening, bringing together Africa’s most distinguished personalities in a setting that is both unique and captivating.
