The Edo State Indigenous Association Of Nigeria, led by its National Chairman, Chief Fidelix Oseghale has commended the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, for using his humility and fatherly disposition to promote peace and unity and ensuring that the kingdom is crime free for indigenes and non-indigenes resident in the kingdom.
Chief Osaghale, who led members and executive of Edo State Indigenous Association of Nigeria, Uvwie Branch on a courtesy visit to the Uvwie Palace, commended the monarch for the achievements recorded since ascending the throne of his forebears.
The Chairman in an address read before the his royal majesty, by the association’s Secretary, Comrade Henry Okoduwa, noted that their visit was to indentify with the monarch’s leadership and seek ways on how to work out strategic framework for more sustainable and mutual beneficial relationship between them and the kingdom.
The Chairman use the ocassion to appeal to his royal majesty to see the Edo Indigenes resident in Uvwie as part of his subjects by extending invitations to them during cultural and festive periods like the Uvwie Day celebration. According to him, the association strongly believe in identifying with the kingdom towards promoting the rich culture of the Uvwie people.
While expressing worries over the alarming rate of unemployment in the country, the association appealed to the Ovie of Uvwie kingdom to use his influence and connection to attract more job opportunities for Edo indigenes into the various establishment and companies in his kingdom and Delta State in general. The chairman noted that the importance of development and gross domestic product (gdp) to any nation or society cannot be over emphasised.
Responding, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, while commending the national chairman and members of the association for their visit, assured that he will continue to do all within his power in ensuring that his kingdom is free from criminal elements in order for indigenes and non-indigines to live peacefully and attract more development to the kingdom and the Delta State in general.
According to him; “Where there is no peace, there cannot be any development. And if there is job for everyone, there won’t be crime”. He noted.
Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, noted that Uvwie will always be home to all who desires to live peacefully and progress therein. He noted that, unemployement is a global issue, but he will continue to do his best in ensuring that indigenes and non-indigenes are carried along when such employment opportunity arises.
The royal father however use the ocassion to call on all parents in the kingdom to caution their wards and children against crime. He noted that, most criminal activities in the kingdom are usually carried out by non-indigenes as well as some indigenes resident in the society.
While assuring that the kingdom will continue to do its best in accommodating the people, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, warned that, the kingdom will not tolerate indigenes and non-indigenes that are involve in any criminal activity in the kingdom. He assured that, Edo State indigenous association will be duly invited during cultural and festive periods.
Highlight of the ocassion was the presentation of drinks, some tubers of yam and other items including some cultural display to the palace by members of the Edo State Indigenous Assocciation of Nigeria.
