David Edevbie who came second in the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, and who lost his bid to unseat Sheriff Oborevwori, in the suit that ended at the Supreme Court, has applied to be joined in a suit by another aspirant in the governorship primaries, Ikie Aghwarianovwe, also of the PDP.
In the joinder application before a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, Edevbie had sought to be joined as the fourth defendant in suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1857/2022, between Aghwarianovwe, and the PDP, Oborevwori and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as first to third defendants, respectively.
The motion by Edevbie, through his counsel, Tayo Oyetibo, gave 10 reasons for the application.
According to him: “The applicant, plaintiff and 2nd defendant are members of the 1st defendant that contested the 1st defendant’s gubernatorial primary election on May 25, 2022.
“On the ground that the 2nd defendant submitted false/forged information and documents in relation to his constitutional requirement to contest the 2023 election to the office of governor of Delta State, the applicant is aggrieved by the 1st defendant’s submission of the 2nd defendant’s name as its governorship candidate.
“The applicant has filed suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/2033/2022: David Edevbie v Sheriff Orohwedor and two others.
“The applicant has a fundamental right to be heard by the court in the consideration of whether the 1st defendant should be disqualified under section 29(6) of the Electoral Act 2022,” the motion added.
