The Aguinode of Warri, Chief Otimeyin Adams, has said Olorogun David Edevbie is more than qualified to succeed His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, as the Governor of Delta State, come 2023.
He made the declaration on Thursday when Edevbie paid him a courtesy call at his residence in Sapele in continuation of his consultations with leaders of the PDP across the State for the Governorship ticket of the PDP.
The top notch leader of the party in Warri North said contrary to views in some quarters that Edevbie was unapproachable and distant, he has found him to be very friendly and open following his interactions with on various working, political and social settings.
“I had heard people say this man is an oyibo but when I met him first at the burial ceremony of the mother of Chief Lucky Otegheri, I found out that he is not what they suggest he is. He threw away all officialdom and got down with us. He was so down to earth, drank the local gin, ate the local foods, chatted and played with everybody. Since then, I have worked with him on many projects, interacted with him on several situations and I came to understand that you never really know people until you are close to them.”
“You are extremely qualified. You have paid your dues,” he told Edevbie in recognition of his educational background, professional qualifications and deep experience working with the three democratically elected Governors of Delta State from 1999 as well as at the Presidency as Principal Secretary to late President Umaru Yar’adua.
Adams urged Edevbie to trust in God in the journey for the Governorship of the State while he also called on Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to put heads together as the leaders of the State to ensure that Delta gets the best to lead after the expiration of Governor Okowa’s tenure.
Earlier at the event, Edevbie articulated the key drivers of his agenda for the modernisation if Delta State which includes resolving the epileptic electricity power supply, security, industrialisation of the three senatorial districts through the enablement of greater private participation and innovative reform of the public service.
Highlights of the visit included Edevbie’s presentation of his Manifesto to the renowned Itsekiri leader and prayers for Edevbie conducted by Mrs Rebecca Otimeyin Adams.
Edevbie was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Aderonke, the DG of David Edevbie Campaign Organisation, Chief Clement Ofuani, former Commissioners, Hon. Vincent Uduaghan and Dr. Karo Ilolo, and other distinguished political leaders from various parts of the State.
