The Delta State Government has asserted that it will exhaust all the mechanisms of dialogue and peace building in addressing the agitations of Oil communities in Delta State over the issues of oil spillage.
The State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro gave the indication yesterday during a routine meeting with the impacted ethnic nationalities of Ijaw and Itsekiri at the Government House Annex Warri.
According to him, “Oil spillage has become a recurring environmental disaster to riverine communities In Delta State. The recent spillage within the excravos axis has prompted the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities of Warri South and Warri South West to demand for more answers to the problem”.
“This mediation meeting with the state deputy government is to assauge the grievances of the affected communities and reach a common ground for the over all interest of the parties involved”.
Barr. Otuaro noted that, the meeting is among the series of intervention by the Delta State government towards tackling the growing agitations by the oil producing communities who have been engaged in a running conflict over environmental degradation and neglect.
The State deputy governor urged the communities to be patient as government will pursue their interest to favourable end.
