The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Delta State has been commended for helping to propagate the vision and mission of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, as captured by the MORE agenda
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, gave the commendation when the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs Tracy Ikolomi and some top management staff of the Agency visited him at Government House, Asaba.
Hon Erijo said it was gratifying to note that the NOA’s mandate was key to advancing the cause of governance through advocacy and public enlightenment programmes geared towards changing the perception of the people about the policies and programmes of government.
He said the Agency, with offices in the 25 LGAs of the state, was reasonably abreast of the policy direction of the Oborevwori administration and had done a lot to sensitize the populace on the need to be supportive of government for the greater good of the state.
The Chief of Staff acknowledged the operational challenges of the Agency, as enumerated by the State Director, and called for closer working relationship between the Agency, the State Ministry of Information and the State Orientation Bureau towards achieving a more coordination approach to the realization of set objectives.
Hon Erijo drew the attention of the NOA to the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state and urged the Agency to assist in sensitizing the candidates and their supporters on the need to shun violence and abide by the rules of the electoral processes.
Earlier, the State Director of the NOA, Mrs Tracy Ikolomi, said the visit was to familiarize the Office of the Chief of Staff with the activities and operational challenges of the Agency in the state and to seek audience with the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
Mrs Ikolomi stated that NOA in Delta was deeply involved in sensitization programmes on various media platforms, adding that the mandate of the Agency was complimentary to the MORE agenda of thea Oborevwori administration.
She urged the State Government to look into the myriad of challenges militating against the effective performance of the Agency, particularly lack of operational vehicles and funding constraints.
