The Delta State House of Assembly has thoroughly screened and confirmed the newly constituted Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Board , during the Tuesday 23rd May, 2023 plenary, in the hollow chamber of the state house of assembly, at Asaba, the state capital.
The plenary which was presided over by the Speaker and Delta State Governor elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori red the names on the floor of the house through a letter from the Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa conveying the names that to be screened and confirmed which includes; Olorogun John Nani as Board Chairman, Chief Festus Ochonogor as Managing Director (MD) , Mr. Efele Eyewu Nicholas Executive Director, Mr. Favour Izoukumor Executive Director, Hon. Chief Taleb A.O. Tebite Executive Director, Mr. Oghenekome Reginald Okpobor Executive Director, others are; Chief Julius Egbedi Member, Mr. Sylvester Ovbije Member, Mr. Goru Jonathan Oghenekaro Member, Mr. Azuka Enebeli Member, Dr. Charles Olisa Member, Mrs. Cordilia N. Anyangwu Member, Mr. Sonny Ofe Member, Mr. Victor Okemena Egboh Member, and Mr. Spencer Okpoye Member.
According to the letter, Governor Okowa informed the House that following the expiration of the tenure of the Governing Board of The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, and in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7, sub-section 1(a) of The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission Law (as Amended) , 2019, He therefore wishes to nominate the above mentioned persons for appointment into various positions of the DESOPADEC Board.
Moving the motion for confirmation was the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo and seconded by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor .
In a related development, the Delta State House of Assembly has equally confirmed the appointment of two New Deputy Clerk and a New Secretary of The Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission Board, these includes; Barr. Mrs. Nwabuoku Isioma Ukamaka as Deputy Clerk, Olorogun Dogbokeme Sylvester as Deputy Clerk, and Barr. Uwasike Austin as Secretary of the Assembly Commission.
Moving the motion for confirmation was the Majority Leader, Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo and was seconded by Hon. Evivie Ovuakpoye, member representing Isoko South 1 Constituency.
