At the flagged-off ceremony of the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative (IEAI), at the ancient city of Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the State, the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme (DSCHC ), conferred the prestigious title of Health Insurance Ambassador (HIA) of Oshimili North on Hon. Frank Ngozichukwu Esenwah, Esq., Member representing Oshimili North State Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA).
The colourful ceremony which signifies a crucial moment of DSCHC ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and inclusivity within Delta Communities, attracted lots of young and elderly men and women residing in Ibusa.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, the Director General (DG)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, asserted that “the IEAI is a Clarion call to well-meaning Deltans, both home and in the diaspora to support the indigent persons in their constituents to live a better life, to purchase health insurance for a neighbor to enable him access quality healthcare without the fear of paying high medical bills, to enable he or she live a healthier life, and as you know Health is wealth.”
Adding, Dr. Akpoveta reiterated that it was a clarion call on the political juganuts – political leaders, the local government chairman, the Honourable Commissioner, elected member of the house of Assembly, house of Representatives and the Senate, and all the political appointees of Oshimili North extraction and indeed the entire Delta State.
“It’s a clarion call on the rich men and women, the High Net-worth individuals (HNIs) in Oshimili North and indeed on all Deltans home and abroad to purchase health insurance for the less privileged. Indeed we appeal to the philanthropy in you, to think MORE and do MORE FOR YOUR PEOPLE”. He pleaded.
While appreciating Hon. Frank Ngozichukwu Esenwah for purchasing 200 Health Insurance Cards for constituents that has been enrolled and listed by DSCHC to receive quality healthcare in any hospital of their choice in the State, Dr. Akpoveta emphasized that with just N7000 one can purchase the health insurance card for family member or neighbors to access quality healthcare throughout the year.
Akpoveta, who commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continuous strong political will and financial support to DSCHC, disclosed that as of February 2024, the enrollment statistics stood at over 1,89,000 individuals. That the figure was a testament to the trust and confidence that Deltans has placed in the Commission and it’s program.
While stating that there’s still much work to be done, and that they remained committed to expanding their reach and impact across the State, the D-G of DSCHC said “as we gather here today, we embark on a journey towards ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our society have access to quality healthcare services. This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to leaving no one behind in our pursuit of universal healthcare coverage to in Delta State.
Earlier, the new Health Insurance Ambassador and Member representing Oshimili North State Constituency in DTHA, Hon. Frank Ngozichukwu Esenwah Esq. harped on the importance of the scheme that it’s cheapest medical care one can access being an all year treatment.
He urged well meaning persons in the State to key into the scheme even if it’s community or Ward enrolment
Esenwah, who commended immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for establishing DSCHC, expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his concerns in waxing the Commission.
Echoing the sentiments of Frank Esenwah, the Chairman of DSCHC, Hon. Dr. Austin Obidi noted that the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was for the health benefits of Deltans, hence the upgrading of health facilities across the State.
Obidi noted that DSCHC would carryout the health campaign to the nooks and crannies of Delta State.
