In a bid to to expand the education landscape for Deltans and Nigerians in general, the Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba has matriculated its first set of undergraduates into the 2021/2022 Academic session.
The University which was established in February 2021 by the law of Delta State has matriculated a total number of 651 students into six faculties of the the University.
At the ceremony which was held at the 1000 seater Auditorium of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ben Oghojafor applauded the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the giant strides he had made in advancing the growth and development in education sector of the state, adding that his unrelenting commitment has broaden Deltans’ access to qualitative University education.
According to Prof. Oghojafor, the creation of the University was necessitated by the determination of Okowa led administration to drastically reduce the gloom and frustration experienced by young Deltans, who were denied admission into public universities as a result of inadequate spaces.
He said that he was optimistic that the institution would continue to grow in leaps and bounds as evidenced by the gathering of witnesses at the ceremony.
While congratulating the matriculating students for being found appropriate and qualified for admission, he admonished them to desist from activities of any unwholesome and anti-social groups.
“In your own interest, do not give in to any pressure to join any anti-social group within or outside the school premises,” he urged.
