The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board (DSWMB), Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, has issued a stern warning to Private Sector Participants (PSP) operators, urging them to take their responsibilities seriously or risk losing their operational mandates.
During a crucial meeting held today, Hon. Edema directed the operators to return to their assigned zones and ensure compliance with proper waste management practices. He emphasized that the directive was necessary to eliminate non-performing operators and improve waste management across the state.
“The time has come for all PSP operators to sit up and deliver on their mandates,” Hon. Edema declared. “We will not hesitate to revoke the mandate of any operator who fails to meet the standards we’ve set.”
Speaking on enforcement measures, Hon. Cosmas Igbenije, Member North of the Board, revealed plans for stricter enforcement in partnership with Local Government Councils to ensure compliance across the state.
Meanwhile, Pastor Samuel Osuere, Chairman of the PSPs in Asaba, assured the Board of his members’ commitment to abiding by the resolutions reached at the meeting, pledging to work toward improved waste management services.
The DSWMB’s renewed focus on accountability and enforcement underscores its determination to maintain a cleaner Delta State and rid the system of underperforming operators.
