The National Association Of Seadogs (NAS) aka Pyrates Confraternity, Hispaniola X Deck (Lekki Lagos Chapter) has urged Nigeria citizens who have not received the COVID – 19 vaccine to take the ongoing MORDENA vaccine without any fear.
The Hispaniola X Deck of NAS stated this in a Covid-19 jingle made available to major media organizations to air across the nation on Thursday, 8 September, 2021, where they also said vaccination would help to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.
The get vaccinated without fear jingle authorized by the Cap’n ( Chapter’s President) of Hispaniola X Deck of NAS, Engr. Sunny Agbejuasun, stated that “the Delta Variant of COVID-19 causes more infections and spreads faster than earlier forms of the virus. It causes more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated people, so if you are above 18 years, a senior citizen with or without underlying health conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, a healthcare worker who are at high risk of exposure, or just recovered from COVID-19! Get vaccinated”.
While urging Nigerians to register for the vaccine online via the NPHCDA E-Registration portal: https://nphcda.vaccination.gov.ng/, Engr. Agbejuasun disclosed that the Lagos State had commenced the administration of the MORDENA vaccine for citizens who have not received the COVID vaccine at 183 designated sites across the State since 25th August, 2021.
“Vaccines continue to reduce a person’s risk of contracting the virus that causes COVID-19, including this Delta Variant. Protect yourself, protect your loved ones, and protect your Community”. Agbejuasun added.
Responding to question on why NAS embarked on this sensitization, the 2nd Mate (Chapter’s Director of Project/Programme) of Hispaniola X Deck of NAS, Umoh Okon Umoh, said that Pyrates Confraternity was concerned with the right of every Nigerian to live a healthy life free from any disease. Adding that the Association also believe that Nigerian lives matter as no Nigerian deserves to lose his/her life to any epidemic when a vaccine has been made available.
According to Umoh, “COVID-19 vaccine is designed to give protection to those who take it by making their bodies produce substances known as antibodies whose function is to fight disease. We have seen our leaders both at the Federal and State levels taking the injections, this is to build confidence in us”.
In the jingle, the Hispaniola X Deck of National Association of Seadogs, urged all eligible Nigerians to be vaccinated against the most dangerous Delta Variant Covid-19 as soon as possible .
