The Chairman of Patani Local Government Council, Honourable Isaac Aguanah has been commended for donating 41 band sets and several copies of hymn books to both primary and secondary schools in the area as part of measure by the council in promoting extra-curricular activities.
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Honourable Sunny Ogwu gave the commendation at Patani, headquarters of Patani Local Government Area on Wednesday during an education stakeholders meeting.
Donating the drum sets and copies of the hymn books to 29 government primary and secondary schools and 12 private primary and secondary schools, the council chairman said that the gesture would increase the tempo of assembly and sporting activities in schools in the area.
Honourable Aguanah who emphasized that education was the bedrock of society, lauded teachers for their role in molding and shaping the lives of people.
While saying that his administration would continue to invest in education, the council boss expressed optimism that students’ academic performance in the area would be the best.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB who was represented by a member of the board, Mr. Paul Kurugbe while addressing education stakeholders in the area including School-Based Management Committees and Parents/Teachers Association chairmen, appealed for active participation of stakeholders in monitoring teachers.
Ogwu, who encouraged benefiting schools to make good use of the items presented by the local government, expressed the board’s readiness to collaborate with the council in moving the basic education sector forward.
He charged primary school teachers in the state to be passionate in carrying out their duties just as he maintained that education remains the engine room of growth and development of any society.
