The newly appointed Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori, has pledged to prioritize the welfare of athletes and improve infrastructural facilities to ensure Delta State retains its position as the leading force in Nigerian sports.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his swearing-in and inauguration by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, at the Government House Unity Hall in Asaba, Mr. Oborevwori outlined his vision for the state’s sports industry.
“To maintain Delta State’s number one position in Nigerian sports, we will prioritize the welfare of athletes and staff and enhance the quality of our sports infrastructure across the 25 Local Government Areas,” he stated.
A former footballer with Shell FC All Stars Warri and the immediate past Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee for the successful 8th National Youth Games hosted in Delta State, Mr. Oborevwori expressed pride in the recent promotion of Warri Wolves Football Club to the National Football League. He assured that the Sports Commission, under his leadership, would provide the necessary support and logistics to propel the team into the Nigerian Premier League.
He further emphasized his commitment to working with a team of professionals who are resourceful, goal-oriented, and driven to achieve the overall development of sports in the state. Mr. Oborevwori reaffirmed his team’s alignment with the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, which aims to create an enabling environment for the growth and advancement of sports across Delta State.
The newly inaugurated board includes Mr. Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori as Chairman, alongside members Sam Sodje, Herrita Ehiabor, and Oghale Ofremu.
