The Delta State Government has tasked the contractor handling the Construction of Obitobon-Elolo-Ajaokurogbo-Orubu road, Ogidighen phase 1 in Warri South West Local Government Area, to speed up the pace of work on the project.
The Delta State Commissioner for works, Chief James Augoye gave the charge today while inspecting the project which he said will bring about a socio economic transformation of the area when completed.
Chief Augoye flanked by field engineers from the ministry, Enginneers from the contracting firm and the counsellor representing Ogidigben Constituency, in Warri south West Local Government Area, said the Okowa administration is very passionate to see the project completed and commissioned.
Chief Augoye upheld the standard of work done so far which he scored high but decried the slow pace of work stressing there was need for more to be done to ensure Governor Okowa’s drive for socio economic development and urban-rural business link is achieved for a stronger Delta.
Commending the contractor on the completion of the seven number of six metre box coverts on the road, the Works Commissioner directed the Contractor to effect certain corrections immediately on them.
He further instructed that the grasses on the sides of the road be removed before the filling of more sharp sand adding that the thickness of the slab be corrected to 150 according to specification as against 100 on ground now.
For their part, the Directorof the construction firm Mr. Emmanuel Natuke and the Site Engineer Mr. William Osagie blamed the slow pace of work on the logistics involved in transporting heavy construction equipment and materials to site noting however that they have started casting the slab in some portions of the road.
Commending the peaceful disposition of the community members, they promised to do more to speed up the job, assuring that the project will be completed in the eighty days according to standards and specification.
The counsellor representing Ogidigben Costituency in Warrior South West local government area, Mr. Raymend Amorighoye-Pirah , Youth President Ogidigben, Mr. Jonathan Omatseye and Mrs. Emili Ajekerenbianghan who are all members of Ogidigben community thanked Governor Okowa for the project and commended the works commissioner for the concern as it was not the first time he was visiting the site.
