The Delta State Government has advised the three existing quarters that makes up Abbi communities in Ndokwa West Local Government Council of the State to consider the idea of having a rotational Kingship title.
The State Deputy Governor, Dcn Kingsley Otuaro gave the advice in a communique issued today in Asaba, after an exhaustive deliberation by numerous stakeholders and speakers at a meeting he presided over that had several representatives from Abbi-Okwele and Abbi-Echalla including members of traditional rulers Committee of Ndokwa West LGA and top Government functionaries, over their desire for the State Government to recognize their quarters as an autonomous clan.
The Deputy Governor, who was represented by Chief Edwin Uzor, (JP), Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building/Conflict Resolution, charged the Chairman of Ndokwa West LGA, Hon. Obi Nzete, to liaise with the Traditional Rulers Committee Ndokwa West and all affected quarters, and forward resolution reached to the State Deputy Governor within one month from today, 20th April, 2021.
The Communique also directed the Obi Nzete to as Ndokwa West LGA Chairman to call a meeting of both parties to deliberate on how to come up with a new Declaration for Abbi Traditional Rulership Title.
Earlier, the President General and spokesperson for Abbi-Okwele, Chief Achuenu Charles expressed their desire for Government recognition of their quarter as an autonomous clan.
Achuenu sighted advantages the elevation of the quarter to a clan status would bring to the entire Abbi communities.
Also speaking, the xv we spokesperson for Abbi-Echalla, Chief Engr. Orsino Chimsunum stated their opposition to the quest of Abbi -Okwele quarter to the elevation of a clan status.
He added that, this in their view, will amount to bulkanization of Abbi community and will have a spiral effect on the entire Ndokwa nation.
Also in attendance were the Member representing Ndokwa West State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, Deputy Chief Staff Government House, Engr. Jude Sinebe, Chairman of Ndokwa West LGA Chief Obi Nzete.
Others included some Special Advisers to Gov Okowa such as Barr. Andy Asowata, Ernest Ogwezzy, Dr. Emma Emazie, the representative of the State Attorney General Peter Mrakpor, Permanent Secretary Directorate of Chieftaincy Affairs, JN Egwahor among others.
