Delta Stability Forum (DSF) congratulates Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme on their declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as winners of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Delta State.
By this declaration Rt. Hon. Oborevwori is now the governor-elect and Sir Onyeme the Deputy Governor-elect of the state, as mandate given to them by the electorate to rule over the affairs of the state for the next four years.
We believe that it is the strength of their M.O.R.E campaign programme that has endeared them to the people and now secured their votes for the mandate that has been given to them. As we congratulate the governor-elect and deputy governor-elect, we urge them to brace up to deliver on their programme of providing meaningful development, providing opportunities for all, provide realistic reforms and enhance peace and security. Indeed, these are programmes with promise to turn Delta State around if given the right implementation attitude.
Therefore, we call on the Delta State Governor-elect and his Deputy to be up and doing by hitting the ground running as soon as they take their oaths of office. We call on them to extend hand of fellowship to their opponents by being magnanimous in victory. DSF aligns with the statement of the State government that the March 18, 2023 election produced a victor but no vanquished.
We also call on all Deltans and persons living in the state, and especially the opponents of the victorious candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to understand that there’s a time for everything under the sun. Since the time for contest has lapsed, we urge them to join hands with the in-coming administration of Rt. Hon. Oborevwori to create a stable Delta State now that the electoral contest has come and gone. Let them work with Oborievwori and his incoming team, to work for a productive and stable Delta State.
DSF also wishes to congratulate the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for putting together a formidable party structure that crushed it’s fiercest opposition in the electoral contest that just ended. It is no mean achievement for the ruling party in the state to, not only retain its win, but do so with such a margin of winning in 21 out of the 25 local government areas of the state. It is a testament to the Governor’s outstanding developmental strides across the three senatorial districts of the state.
As you bow out of office in the next two months, we assure you that you have earned your stripes and history will definitely be kind to you.
Signed
Iwemdi Nwaham,
Chairman
