The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, has commended the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Asaba Branch, for her positive contributions to the protection of the girl child and society in general.
Mr. Erebe made the commendation when the Executive members of FIDA Nigeria, Asaba Branch, paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his appointment as the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of Delta State Ministry of Justice.
He also commended the Branch on the several sensitization campaigns they embarked on earlier this year, particularly the just concluded 16 days of activism.
The Solicitor-General assured them of the zero tolerance stance of the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo, to all sexual offences and domestic violence cases.
He lauded FIDA for their unrelenting fight against oppressive practices against the girl child, women and the oppressed in the society in general.
Erebe assured them of his unflinching support and stated that his doors are always open to render to the Association any assistance it may require.
Earlier in her remarks, the Chairperson of FIDA Nigeria, Asaba Branch, Ms. Stellamaris Mejulu, said they were in Mr. Erebe’s office to congratulate him on his recent appointment as the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary by His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Authur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State.
She appreciated His Excellency for his wise choice in appointing Mr. Erebe, describing him as a legal practitioner who has distinguished himself in the performance of his duties.
Mejulu expressed confidence that he, Erebe will continue to make positive contributions to the legal community.
The Chairperson also took the opportunity to state the role the Association has been playing in achieving the goals of FIDA.
She equally stated that recent disturbing data has shown that male children are also now being subjected to sexual molestation by adults.
She said FIDA will continue to pursue justice for children victims of sexual crimes, irrespective of their gender.
The FIDA Chair person sought the assistance of the Ministry to ensure all persons involved in sexual offences are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.
Ms. Mejulu, was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary of the Association, Ms. Ifeoma Ejete, and Mrs. Eyesio Oke, Treasurer.
