Orientation Panorama, a weekly sensitization and awareness public affairs radio programme rocked the airwaves across Delta State on Wednesday at exactly 3.10pm on Voice of Delta F.M radio of Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba station.
The one hour live phone-in programme is the initiative of Delta State Orientation Bureau, DSOB, designed to bring government closer to the people by informing the general public about policies, programmes and achievements of government.
The programme shall also speak against societal ills and the need for the citizenry to willingly perform their civic responsibilities, encourage attitudinal change, moral values, honesty, hard work and the need to always exhibit spirit of patriotism.
The programme shall also create awareness on foreseeable natural disasters, epidemics, precautionary measures on disease control, campaigns against drug abuse and other deviant behaviours in our social milieu.
Speaking during the maiden edition of Orientation Panorama on Voice of Delta FM radio in Asaba and monitored across the state, Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation Bureau, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, dwelled on the ongoing admission at the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, and the Short Service Commission Enlistment into the Nigerian Air Force.
He urged eligible youth across the state to apply for admission by logging on to; www.ndaapplications.net. The NDA is the military Academy for the Army, Navy and Air Force, while successful applicants are to undergo academic exercise for four years and compulsory one year military training, making a total of five years. Those commissioned as Officers are meant to service in any of the sister forces.
He urged listeners who are between 18 and 25 years old, and who must be holders of School certificate with five credits in the relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics, to visit NDA website; www.ndaapplications.net to apply.
Oghenesivbe said application for admission into NDA closes on the 30th day of April, 2024, while application for enlistment into the Nigerian Air Force Short Service Commission to close on 11th March, 2024, respectively.
The Head of DSOB informed the public that Delta State is not doing well in terms of utilization of her quota in admissions and recruitments into the Armed Forces, as well as the Police Service, which is why the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, gave matching orders through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government to the State Orientation Bureau, to design and implement impactful and result oriented sensitization campaigns via the mass media and in various communities across the three senatorial districts in the state.
He listed some of the benefits or gains of joining the Armed Forces to include; well paid job, it’s pensionable, prestigious career with national honours, self esteem of serving your country and the joy of protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, among others. All of these benefits are in tandem with the MORE agenda of the State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, JP.
“Begining from 28th February, Orientation Panorama shall continue to hit your airwaves every Wednesday from 3:10 pm to 4pm on Voice of Delta F.M radio, frequency 97.9 Asaba, while DBS Warri radio programme shall commence first week in March, 2024.
“During the course of the weekly programme, Delta State Government through the State Orientation Bureau shall continue to enlighten the general public on government policies, programmes and achievements, as well as promote moral values, attitudinal change, hard work, honesty, patriotism and the need for the citizenry to always perform their civic responsibilities.
“We shall be talking more about the need to keep Delta clean, youths to shun social vices and cultism, and we shall explain why all Taxable Adults and companies must pay their taxes, fees, levies, charges, file Annual Returns, as and when due, to enable the governor fulfil his social contract obligations and electioneering campaigns promises to the people.
“We shall also inform the public and Deltans what government is doing with tax payers money by listing projects executed and ongoing projects embarked upon by governor Oborevwori administration, and the locations of such projects.
