The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Information Chapel, has concluded plans to hold its highly anticipated press week with the theme “The Role of Information Officers as Pacesetters in the Actualization of the M.O.R.E. Agenda.”
According to a statement released by the Chapel, the 2-day event which will hold on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th January 2025 in Asaba will be chaired by Dr. Festus Okubor, Chief Strategist to the Governor of Delta State, with Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, Member Representing Oshimili South in the Delta State House of Assembly, as the guest speaker.
The special guest of honor is Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Commissioner for Special Duties ( Government House), while Dr. Andrew Akanigha, a retired Permanent Secretary, will be the Father of the Day.
The statement added that the event which promised to be a remarkable gathering will feature an impressive lineup of activities including a road walk, novelty match, medical checks, indoor games, and panel discussion.
The event will feature a roundtable discussion with distinguished discussants, including Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Prof. Majority Oji, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Delta State University, Abraka and a one-time Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council, Comrade Norbert Chiazor
Other notable guests include the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen; Head of Service of Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko mni; a World Bank Expert, Lady Dr. Patience Ogbewe; a seasoned journalist, Asiwaju Sola Adebayo, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Chief Festus Ahon, immediate past Chairman of Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Micheal Ikeogwu among others.
The chief host of the event is Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman of the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, while the host is the chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Kenneth Obieh
The Press Week is designed to celebrate the contributions of information officers and promote professional growth, networking, and knowledge sharing.
Key highlights of the Press Week will include a road walk starting from Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat to Inter Bau roundabout and back to the Hall of Celebration, Okpanam Road on January 15, 2025, at 8:00am while there will be a novelty match between officers of Information Chapel and DBS, Asaba by 4pm at the NTA Asaba sports ground, Asaba.
On Thursday 16th January 2025, the programme continues with medical Checks and indoor games at 8:00am at the Hall of Celebration, along Okpanam Road by Police Headquarters, Asaba while at 11:00am there will be round table discussion featuring a guest speaker and discussants at the event.
