The Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), yesterday inaugurated a four – man Executive Committee for the Federal Information Chapel of the Council.
Those inaugurated includes Comrade Abel Johngold (Chairman), Comrade Tamara Febau (Vice Chairman), Comrade Wilbet Ijeoma (Secretary) and Comrade Kelly Gilor as Treasurer.
The Chairman of the Credentials Committee of the chapel, Comrade Felix Ijoma, stated, among other things, that all the inaugurated executive members of the chapel were returned unopposed.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of others, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Comrade Abel Johngold, who thanked members for their support, promised to keep the revitalization of the Chapel.
He promised to continue operating his open door system of administration where every member is carried along.
While appealing to the State Council to be carrying the Chapel along by giving equal rights as being given to other Chapel’s, Johngold solicited for the continued support of members to enable his Exco take the chapel to greater heights.
He lamented that the Federal Information Chapel is the most marginalized Chapel in the State Council, both by the State Government and NUJ State Council Exco.
“We have not been treated fairly by the State Government and the Delta State Council of the NUJ.” Johngold lamented while giving his acceptance speech.
The Delta State NUJ Council delegates to the event was led by the Vice Chairman of the council, Comrade Salvation Ogono.
In his keynote address, Comrade Ogono congratulated the inaugurated Executives of the Chapel and urged them to reach out to other members of the Chapel that have not been active and encourage them to be participating in the drive to move the Union forward.
Ogono charged the Abel Johngold-led Exco to carry every member along, just as he enjoined members to support the new executive committee of the chapel.
High points of the event were the formal dissolution of the immediate past Comrade Abel Johngold-led executive committee and inauguration of the new Exco Committee by the Secretary of the Delta State Council, Comrade Patrick Nweke Ochei.
