The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has inaugurated the 2020 credentials committee for its election coming up this year.
The Constitution of the Credentials Committee was done through nomination by members of the Union at the State Congress that took place at the State Council’s Permanent Press Center, Maryam Babangida road Asaba.
Speaking during the inauguration, the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu called on members of the committee to ensure that they conduct credible election in line with the NUJ constitution, adding that the members are crop of experienced journalists who have played major roles in repositioning the noble profession.
The members of the committee are: Comrade Godwin Okoh as Chairman, while Comrade Kenneth Obieh will serve as Secretary. Other members are Vikies Okies, Dew Wilson and Abel Johngold Orheruata.
Comrade Ikeogwu charged members of the Union to continue to carry themselves with dignity, integrity and respect which he said were the only ingredients needed for the profession to grow, insisting that no profession can be as honorable as journalism which is the pride of every nation.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Comrade Godwin Okoh, expressed appreciation to the Council for finding them worthy and capable to do the job, stressing with high sense of dedication, that they will do their best to conduct an election that will be adjudged free, fair and credible.
He implored the copious support of the members to enable the committee do a good job, adding that the committee will not disappoint the Union.
Comrade Godwin Okoh assured the Union that his led Credentials Committee will not succumb to neither internal or external influence.
